South Dakota Sunset
The prairie hills are a rock sea
rising to a crest
subsiding
the movements frozen in time immeasurable
though not forever.
Wide and long the sunset
backlights in full spectrum.
Ruddy orange anchoring,
it blends and spreads thin
to the limitless blue.
How high does the color show.
When does it cease as my Sunset
and become some other's Starshine?
The sunset pictured on the home page was the inspiration for this poem.
